The Outpost is your talent tree

In GRAIN ROT the Outpost (a.k.a. Sanctuary) is not just a hub — it is the long-term progression system. Every successful extraction feeds resources back here. Rooms upgrade like a talent tree: improving the dining hall might boost stats; improving the warehouse adds inventory slots.

What to upgrade first

For most players the priority order in early Outpost is:

  1. Warehouse — more inventory means fewer trips across dangerous rooms, which reduces your chance of being caught by the Corrupted.
  2. Stamina core — longer sprints and swings.
  3. Hull repair — keeps Vessels alive longer.
  4. Dining hall — boosts stat regeneration between runs.

The 1.0 second floor

The 1.0 launch added a second Outpost floor with new structures and the Enchantment Machine, which ties into a broader quest flow. Specific per-room costs and stat deltas per upgrade tier are 待确认 until cross-referenced against the official 1.0 patch notes.

Decorating as a minigame

Placing furniture involves a dedicated minigame. Better decorating performance speeds up the room’s progression. This is a small but real optimization: a well-decorated warehouse upgrades faster than a hastily-placed one.

Save-management note

Outpost data persists in local AppData (%LOCALAPPDATA%\GRAINROT\Saved\SaveGames) and syncs via Steam Cloud. Manual backups are recommended for experimental runs — see the Outpost Master achievement guidance on the 100% page.
